I purchased my Hart HPID01 about 2 years ago. its the first impact bit driver that I have owned. I put it to use within the first two days of purchase and immediately noticed that the bits were not locking in. when I would reach for another screw to attach to my project I would notice that my bit was missing. frustrated I witched over to my chuck driven drill and forgot all about it. 2 yrs from then I thought I would do a little research. so, I went to the store I purchased it from and looked at the ones on display. I noticed a distinct difference in the distance that the bits are allowed to extend into the holder. my driver bit cavity is too short to allow a bit to lock onto the ball bearing. just my luck. now 2 yrs. later I have no receipt, that might would have provided me some warranty. oh well, such is life. I don't know how many they are putting on the shelves like this; but check your purchase with the bit that comes with the kit, before you leave the store premises.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the problem with your driver. Hopefully that was an anomaly and not typical of the brand. Hart generally seems to be marketed as a higher-quality brand (at least compared to Walmart's Hyper Tough) so you'd hope that they have higher standards in place.
